Trek moved its headquarters and manufacturing from Medina, NY to a facility in Lockport, NY in 2013. The new location was selected after numerous other possible sites were considered for the company’s expansion. The site at 190 Walnut Street was owned and operated by Harrison Radiator in years past and represents an excellent example of adaptive reuse of an existing but vacated property within a community that will benefit from Trek’s presence, employment, and economic impact. The move was supported and assisted by the City of Lockport, Niagara County, and New York State. This refurbished site now houses Trek’s accounting, administration, customer service, production, purchasing and sales departments. Trek and Torrent EMS now occupy 58,000 sq ft at this site.
Trek’s continuous improvement programs (originated at its prior sites in Medina, NY) are designed to enhance quality and productivity through initiatives such as cell-based processes, cross-training of operators, electronic documentation, employee certification (IPC), lean manufacturing and process automation. The company is ISO certified and ITAR registered. Trek is accustomed to meeting CE, CSA/UL and VDE requirements and is familiar with ATEX, CCR and ORCA.
TORRENT EMS – a contract electronics manufacturing services provider and a strategic supplier to Trek – is now a majority-owned subsidiary of TREK, INC. Through this relationship both Trek and Torrent will leverage the economies of scale that exist between the two companies. They will also utilize their combined capabilities to expand into new products and new markets and thereby diversify and strengthen both companies. TORRENT EMS – previously Torrent Assembly Group – recently moved from Orchard Park, NY to Trek's headquarters facility in Lockport, NY to enhance production efficiencies.. Torrent’s fully automated assembly equipment supports a wide mix of component technologies and applications.
Trek’s Research & Development and Engineering groups are housed in the Trek Technology Center, a 12,000 sq. ft. stand-alone facility in Lockport, NY. The staff, lab/testing equipment and prototype apparatus occupy two floors of the renovated Canal Street Building in downtown Lockport adjacent to the historically-significant Erie Canal. The ‘tech center’ is dedicated to the development of technologies and designs in support of Trek’s future growth. The groups work on projects designed to expand the company’s future product offerings. With Trek’s recent move of its corporate headquarters from Medina to the nearby Walnut Street site in Lockport, the company management team sees this an opportunity to accelerate developments with its technical team in order to continue to achieve both technical and commercial success.Individual staff members can be accessed via TREK, INC’s main telephone number.
